Paul’s statement in v 15, “we hope that your faith will grow so that the boundaries of our work among you will be extended,” implies that when we grow spiritually we will reach out beyond ourselves to those who need the gospel. The two are connected, and extending our boundaries to reach the unsaved is the evidence of our spiritual growth. How long we sit in church is not the measure of our spiritual maturity, but rather how far we extend ourselves to reach the lost. Like Paul, we must be committed to extend our boundaries and go far beyond our limits for the sake of the nearly 4 billion people on earth today who have never heard the gospel.
