The area we tend to struggle most with in regard to God's will, is God's timing.  God operates on a different calendar than ours, and if we become impatient and take things into our own hands, we can get out of God's will and create a mess of unnecessary problems in our lives.  This message explores the importance of understanding and trusting God's timing.

Once we had no identity – we struggled to really find ourselves, but now we have an identity as God’s people. Once we defined ourselves, our self-esteem, our self-worth, by who accepts us or wants to be with us, by our accomplishments or even our looks, but the problems is that all those things can be taken away. If we base our identity in any of these things, we are going to find ourselves constantly struggling to find out who we are. However, discovering out true identity is one of the greatest gifts that God gives us, and it comes through knowing that we have been chosen by God. We want to explore what it means to be chosen by God.

Wisdom is depicted as shouting in the midst of a crowded streets, filled with the hustle and bustle of every day life. She is speaking publicly, but no mention of a crowd gathered to hear. Wisdom is shouting, but we must train our ears to hear her voice.

So many people today have no sense of belonging. They’ll say “I just don’t know where I belong...,” but when you come to Christ you belong. We belong to God and we belong to one another. We belong to the family of God, the church.

God never intended for us to go thru life independently, and he never intended for us to live the Christian life individually. God did not create us to be self-sufficient, and independent. We belong to each other, and by God’s intent and thru His word, He makes it clear that we are better together than apart. Today, we are going to look at this passage in 1 Peter 2:5-10, and other passages, as we see from God’s word, why we are better together than apart.

A study by George Barna states that a child’s world view is set by the age of 13, and though there maybe slight tweaks thereafter, rarely do drastic life changes occur after the age of 13. The Bible makes clear that God understands the importance of making sure that from an early age, parents are intentional and consistent about shaping the lives of their children. By the age of 13, the bent of your child’s life will be pretty much set, and that bent or shape will be the product of what Christian author, Ted Tripp, refers to as Shaping Influences, “those events and circumstances in a child’s developmental years that prove to be catalysts for making” them the person they will be for life. Today, we are going to look at several of those shaping influences, and what we can do about them.
