Ecclesiastes was written by King Solomon, who was the wisest and wealthiest man ever lived, and in this autobiographical book, he shares his lifelong pursuit to find happiness. Solomon shared how he tried wisdom, women, wild living, wealth, and work. He pursued happiness in all the areas that people commonly do, but seeking happiness in any of these things, he said was like chasing the wind. It left him emptier than before, feeling as though everything about life under the sun was meaningless and futile.

This is not just a human being writing the musings of His life, but He is being divinely inspired, so God is speaking to us through Solomon’s laments over his life. Ecclesiastes 3 is a particularly well known passage that is filled with truth that God is speaking to us about where true happiness or joy can be found.
