ONE THING THAT CAN CHANGE EVERYTHING: ONE THING I DO (PHIL. 3:12-14)

Initially, as your read this passage, it seems as though Paul contradicts himself. He says “one thing I do,” but then proceeds to urge us to do three things: forget the past, press on to the goal and strain for what is ahead. Yet, if you read carefully, you will see that these three are really components of one thing, obtaining the goal, winning the prize for which God has called us. Paul was living with one passion and one purpose, for one person, the Lord. That that is the one thing that made his life worth living, everything else, he counted as loss, he would willing give it all up, for this one thing.

Paul teaches us that the one thing that changes everything is living with one passion and one purpose for one person, the Lord. He teaches us that doing this one thing involves releasing the past, living fully in the present, and reaching toward the future God has destined for us.
